T-systems Staff Engagement
In 2008, T-Systems won an outsourcing deal to supply hosting and storage services to a global oil giant. This involved on-boarding 1,000 new employees in four global locations. T-Systems was on a tight deadline to start its employee engagement and The Fifth Business won the contract to prepare and manage the change and employee engagement process for the set up of the new account.
Fifth Business consultants organised the global welcome events for transferring staff in Malaysia, USA, UK and The Netherlands; the creation of a dedicated account intranet and the design of orientation and on-boarding collateral. Following the successful transition, The Fifth Business managed the change communications on an ongoing basis for Global Office relocations, IT rollouts, webcasts and HR policy.
Shell Information Security
Shell Information Security went through a number of leadership changes and re-organisation which necessitated the writing and roll-out of a new Information Security strategy. The Fifth Business provided a senior consultant to work on overall change and communications activities directly with the interim Vice President. The change piece had three streams: building an informed and engaged Information Security Community, effectively managing stakeholders across the organisation, and improving IT usage behaviours in terms of security.
Key activities included designing and facilitating leadership team meetings and strategy workshops, leading team effectiveness exercises, and stakeholder management. Our consultant was also responsible for creating and delivering a change communication strategy, setting up communication channels and processes, and training staff to support operational communications.
BP European Desktop Transformation
The Fifth Business provided a senior change consultant and multimedia team to work on BP's European Desktop Transformation Project. The project was established with the aim of standardising and consolidating BP's helpdesk support service.
The change management strategy was key in providing users with the new service details, as well as preparing them for the change. The communications created have been critical in dealing with any change resistance as well as keeping users up to date with all the new details of service provision. Due to the geographical and cultural scope, The Fifth Business created a strategy that could be adapted and individualised on a site by site basis, taking into consideration different cultures. Deliverables included a fully interactive web-portal, help cards and posters.
